How MOVING AHEAD Began

MOVING AHEAD was founded in 1983, with one truck, a small office, and one goal: to provide the best service to our customers at the fairest possible price. More than 200,000 satisfied customers later, we now operate a fleet of 20 trucks and maintain a private storage warehouse of over 21,000 square feet.

John Tarko, Founder and President of MOVING AHEAD, continues to personally oversee the day to day operations, ensuring top quality performance on each and every move. This attention to detail has helped MOVING AHEAD become one of the largest moving companies on Long Island. Mr. Tarko is also the former Chairman of the Board for the Long Island Moving and Storage Association (LIMSA).

By collaborating with agencies like the Long Island Moving and Storage Association, the Better Business Bureau, and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) (212) 533-6200, consumers are afforded the opportunity to make an informed service decision. This lets the customer hear and see for themselves the reputation of the mover. The most common complaint received by the Better Business Bureau regarding moving companies is low estimates. It is fairly common for some companies to double or even triple the price quoted for your move. You can avoid being subjected to this simply by checking the Better Business Bureau’s site before hiring your mover.
